Can laser tattoo removal really remove tattoos (black) or does it always leave a cloudy mess behind?

I am debating whether to remove a large tattoo that is mostly black and grey. But I’d hate to leave behind a cloud of funk. The people at the tattoo removal place swear that black comes off completely. What do you think?

All the ones I’ve seen, you can still see something there after.

I think that would be awesome if it did .. but I have no experience

It takes multiple sessions for a tattoo to be completely removed. Even then, you can tell that something was there, just not WHAT (but it wouldn’t be blatantly obvious).

Black does come off easier than colors, but it may take several treatments and may still leave something behind, depending on the age of the tattoo and other factors.

I think the best way to use tattoo removal is as an aid to a cover up. One or two removal sessions should lighten it enough to give you a lot of flexibility in cover up options, and the cost of 1or 2 removal sessions plus a cover up tattoo is a lot cheaper than 5-10 removal sessions.
