In today’s society, more and more women tend to flock towards getting flower tattoo designs.  Perhaps the best thing about flower tattoos is the fact that they are aesthetically pleasing as well as symbolically meaningful.

Tattoos in floral designs can make use of rich and vibrant colors, and flowers can be likened to the fruitful and vibrant cycle of human life in that they grow and bloom and eventually wither away before death.

Different flowers can have different meanings, however, so it is important to know the definition of each flower tattoo design before making the decision to get one permanently imprinted on to your skin.

White flower designs are usually meant to indicate purity in an individual.  red flower designs are usually meant to connote passion and desire.

Roses are one of the most common designs among flower tattoos.  In the 16th century, it is believed that rose tattoos were applied on persons who were sentenced to death that in this way, they could easily be recognized in the event of an escape.

Nowadays, rose tattoos can symbolize love and passion.  It is a design chosen by man romantics at heart.  In the western regions, roses symbolize purity and love, while in the east, the lotus is the flower that holds this same representation.  Lotus tattoos also symbolize fortune, goodness, beauty and peace.

The Acacia flower tattoo is known to be a symbol of love and friendship.  In Irish culture, the Bells of Ireland are supposed to reap good luck to those who wear them as tattoos on their bodies.

The tulip is supposed to be symbolic of the perfect lover, while violets are supposed to be good for those who are timid at heart.  The Iris is known to symbolize virtue and wisdom, while Magnolias are supposed to symbolize love for nature.

Flower tattoos have different meanings to different people and have grown to become very popular today.  These designs can be any size or color, but in any case, those who would like to get them applied should know well enough to select the color, size and designs most akin to their needs.
