How did you pick out your tattoo design?

I’m going to be turning 18 next year and have been wanting to get a tattoo done since I was in middle school. Being that I’ll be an adult, I want to finally get it done, but I’m not sure what I want to have done, exactly. I want it to have meaning and not be something I’ll be bored with 10 years down the road. How did you decide what your tattoo design would be like?

I was inspired reading my favourite book and then took some art from it to my tattoo artist and he made an amazing design.

I wouldn’t get tattoo for the sake of getting tattooed. Find something you really want, think about it for a long time, find an artist you really like. Ask them questions and advice. Get a booking for a few months later and then get them to draw up something that you absolutely love. Only then should you get tattooed.

You’re doing it backwards… you should be inspired by something first, and THEN be so taken with it that you want it as a tattoo. Not the other way around. If you go about it the wrong way (just wanting to have a tattoo, and trying to come up with one) you will most likely regret it later.

i went on photobucket and looked up different types of tattoos to see what i liked and didnt like, and went from there.

Here’s a great site page about what you should do before getting a tattoo:

Here’s how to get a great tattoo without regret:

These will help you be prepared and head you down the road to a personal and individual and custom tattoo design that you will love your whole life.

    luck~

when i got my first one a few weeks ago i designed it because it had a lot of meaning.

but the one i got yesterday i picked out of the book there because it looked unique and really good!..and also i dont have time to draw up a good tattoo because im in college.
i want mine to have some sort of meaning..like the one i got yesterday was a koi fish, which is good luck and also all the tattoos i want, i want them to be really artsy and drawn up really well.
