i got my first tattoo 4 days ago and its peeling…i’m just wondering if its normal for the skin to come out the same color as the tattoo..i’ve been using coco butter lotion and A&D ointment for the past couple of days now and i’m just worried that the ink might be leaking out my skin or something..is this normal?

Try natural oils such as almond, kukui or tea tree. These are very soothing and will help heal the tattoo quickly. AVOID all wax and petroleum based products. They clog pores. Avoid too much antibacterial soap as this is very drying. You can find these oils at health stores and they are used for all kinds of skin irritations with great success. Google them.

You should never use petroleum based products to care for your tattoo. The best thing for healing an abrasion (a tattoo is a controlled abrasion) is air. Petroleum based products prevent air from reaching the tattoo, thus complicating healing. Light coats of fragrance-free lotion, no sun, not picking at it and trying to keep things from rubbing on it are the most important factors in a nicely healed tattoo.
