Make a list of the things that you want in your tattoo image.
Find references – artwork: paintings, sculpture, drawings, photos, pen & ink – things from nature – items like jewelry, article of clothing, sheet of music, instrument, sports stuff etc. etc.
Write down a description of your vision and/or your idea that your trying to put together.
Find the best tattoo artist that you can. Look for experience, an established shop, look in portfolios in person or on a web site, look for good clean lines and smooth transitions in shading, look for styles that appeal to you, look for an artist that does work along the line of your idea (specializes in portraits, or animals, or realistic or stylistic or ‘old school’ etc.)
Bring everything that you have for references to your tattoo artist of choice for a consultation.
They will draw up a custom tattoo design based on these, your idea and your anatomy, for your approval.
When you and your artist have it worked out, you then sign an agreement and get your tattoo.

here’s a good article on how to get a tattoo without regret:

Get a good nights sleep, eat 1 hr before you go in, relax, breathe, and HOLD STILL.
Take excellent and current aftercare for as long as it takes for your tattoo to come out it’s best when it is healed:

After it is healed, use a high (50 – 85) SPF sunblock each and everytime that you expose your tattoo, no matter what the weather or time of year, for the rest of your life. Every 10 yrs or so, get a touch up if needed.

    luck~

Try using Photoshop to convert your pictures to tattoos.
