THE WING TATTOO

One of the most commonly demanded tattoo designs today is that of the wong tattoo.  Wing tattoos are often used by people who want to express a sense of innocence and faith without using more literal symbols like crosses or angels.  There are a number of reasons behind people’s getting wing tattoos, and each design is usually made based on the person’s personal reasoning.

Wings, particularly the ones of butterflies, have long been seen as a symbol of freedom, goodness and peace.  Some wings such as dragon or bat wings may also symbolize evil or destruction, death or darkness.  Nonetheless, there are many types of wing designs that can convey different meanings to the wearer.

For many people, wing tattoos are gotten as a symbol or commemoration of a loved one that was lost, and the wings are used to reflect on the fact that the departed was taken away too soon in life.  In such cases, it is common for the lost one’s initials to be placed along with the wing tattoo’s design.  The size is adjustable, but usually it is smaller if the loved one lost was a child or baby.

Some people like to get wing tattoos as a symbol of a sort of guardian whom they believe to be watching over them.  People who survive accidents or sicknesses  are some examples of this case.  Guardians represented may be both mythical and spiritual to the bearer.

The general level of detail of the wing tattoos varies from person to person.  While other people like the wing tattoos to be so detailed as to project every individual scale or feather, others prefer to have just the outline prominent.

In certain cases, especially those that include initials on the wing, the details are not meticulous, and the outline is the one used as a focal point for coloration and attention.  The quality of the tattoo, however, should never be compromised.
